Stanmore Combined, formerly known as Stanmore Steering Group was formed on 29th April 2004 following an open meeting held on 1st March 2004 to determine how the recommendations of the John Thompson report could be considered and moved forward. Since that time the group have continued to discuss and debate issues raised within the community and to support projects which bring about positive change.
The group is made up of representatives of various local organisations that have an interest or involvement in Stanmore and its residents. Please see the membership page for a full list of members.
The aim of the group is “Working in partnership with other groups, organisations and agencies Stanmore Combined aims to investigate, research and develop practical solutions to issues raised within the community and in so doing, improve the quality of the environment and life for its residents”.

Over a period of time the group have discussed and debated a number of issues raised within the community or by members of the group, including speeding traffic, parking, play provision, transport and development. They also receive regular updates from partner organisations such as Winchester City Council on proposals or work being undertaken in the area and have the opportunity to pass comment and suggest ideas.
The group have also instigated a number of projects which include undertaking some focussed research to determine the cause of parking difficulties in Stanmore and investigating the possibility of bringing a former disused allotment site back into community use. However, the main project for the group in recent times has focussed on the development of a Community Plan for Stanmore which completed in June 2010.
