Stanmore Community Action Plan Published

The things that Stanmore residents believe would improve life in their community are now known, after the publication this week of the Stanmore Community Action Plan.

The Plan is the result of three years’ hard work by local residents, elected members and officers from a number of statutory and community organisations. It includes a set of proposals to address the wide range of issues identified during the consultation stage, including issues of particular concern to residents such as the impact of student accommodation and problems caused by parking. The Plan will be implemented over the next five years by Stanmore Combined, in conjunction with the local residents associations and other organisations working in the area.

The full Plan can be viewed on the Stanmore Combined website at http://www.stanmorecombined.org.uk/community_planning/. Also available on the website are a community profile and the results of various consultation exercises that took place during the process of producing the Plan.

Reverend Mike Gardner, Vicar of St Luke’s and Chair of Stanmore Combined said, “It is with great pride that I can say that I live on Stanmore and serve the local community, working with and alongside people from all sorts of backgrounds and with an amazing range of skills and insights to offer back into our community. I challenge everyone to take up the words of action in this Plan and turn them into real action with outcomes to be proud of.”

The Stanmore Community Action Plan is the eighth such plan published by communities in Winchester District. All eight plans can be found on the Winchester City Council website at http://www.winchester.gov.uk/CommunityAndLiving/CommunityPlanning/CommunityPlans/CompletedPlans/.
